This year has been completely crazy so far. And even more since August, as we’ve organized 2 Demo Days @Fintech FUSION and are preparing us intensively for the new batch of startups, entering the acceleration program on Wednesday (more information to come on FUSION blog). As I’m used to say, I’m in a “Grand Bleu” mode (that means, “Deep Dive holding my Breath”). That is, that I have not enough time to do all what I’d like to (like blogging ways more!). But do not worry, I have plenty of blog post ideas in mind… But before surfacing again, here are 3 startups events you may (should) attending in October 2016 if you are in Switzerland.
Startup Weekend Fintech, Geneva, October 7-9th
For the first time ever in Western Switzerland, a Startup Weekend dedicated to fintech will take place this weekend in Geneva. Developers, designers and business people will have 54h to develop their fintech startup idea, leveraging technology and assed provided by sponsors like eWise (account aggregation technology) and TheScreener (access to their equity analysis solution). SW Fintech will take place at Fintech FUSION office and is limited to 50 people. And finally, you can get a 20% discount with the following code: “swfriends”. Hurry up to register!
Startup Day @FORUM EPFL, Lausanne, October 12th
About 70 Swiss startups will participate this year to the biggest startup recruiting fair in Western Switzerland, on October 12th, at top engineering school EPFL. If you are looking for a job or an internship in a startup, it’s definitely the place to be! The day will also see some interesting keynotes, from famous startup Prezi as well as the Lausanne-based billion dollars company MindMaze.
You can meet me at booth S.72 (and learn more about Coteries, and our new startup projects!)… And if you’re a dynamic software engineer… I have an opportunity for you!
Swiss Startup Day, Bern, 24-25th of October
About 600 actors of the Swiss Startup Scene (more than 300 startups, 80+ investors) will gather for over 1.5 days, on October 24-25th, at Stade de Suisse in Berne. First afternoon will be dedicated to workshops (on term sheets, sales, Due Diligence, incentives, tax, exit, etc.). The second day, will see pitching battles, Investors on Stage as well as 1-1 meetings (you can start planning your 1-1 as of Saturday 1st of October).
Swiss Startup Day (previously named CEO Day) is the biggest (and oldest, 2016 will be the 13th edition) Swiss Startup event. I’ve been attending it every year since my entry on the Swiss startup scene, back in 2008. It’s definitely the place to be, as you will be able to meet many players of the scene, from experienced entrepreneurs to newbies, from business angels to VCs coming from abroad.
